Many are wondering what this New Year will bring. We have hope that the New Year will erase the past and start a new beginning without all the problems of 2009. We want a clean slate. There is a change in optimism for a more promising year. Jupiter the planet of prosperity, truth, and spirituality has changed signs into Aquarius. In 2009 Jupiter was in the worse possible placement, therefore producing a lack of all the attributes that Jupiter rules. Jupiter in Aquarius will promote a new attitude of hope and prosperity. But there are other planetary influences at work now that will cause other problems. Knowing there is a Divine order to everything helps us understand the process and enfoldment of events. Everything happens for a reason and is growth producing.

Beginning this year we start out with Mercury retrograde conjunct Rahu. This means Mercury is involved in the eclipses occurring in January. Mercury rules learning, thinking and perceptions of the mind. Rahu produces obsessive-compulsive behavior. This conjunction is occurring in the sign of Sagittarius indicating obsessive-compulsive behavior concerning beliefs and religious fanaticism.

Mars retrograde in the sign Cancer rouses tempers and angers that have been suppressed. Retrograde planets seem to cause the surfacing of issues that have been denied or disregarded. Mars rules real estate, and in the sign of Cancer it will bring attention and eventual healing to the devastation of the housing markets and banks. Planets that are debilitated and retrograde reverse the debilitation to exaltation indicating focus and healing to an issue that has gotten out of control. Mars is the planet of war and being retrograde plans of attack will surface and there will be an increase of war on the planet.
2010 Predictions Presentation

It seems there are many deeply rooted problems in both the government and banks. There will surface and cause many setbacks in the financial predicament worldwide. A retrograde planet will give the means to look deep into problems to find resolution.

To find realize healing of our problems, whether they are personal or global, we must always remember to focus on the solution instead of the problem. Focusing on the problem will only increase problems, but attention to the solution will bring a solution. Saturn in the sign of Virgo will bring focus to health issues in terms of the health insurance for the masses in America and also open up medical discoveries globally.

The grand mutable cross forming this year will produce many challenges, mostly dealing with terrorism. We have been extremely fortunate up until the time of this writing, in averting terrorist activity. On Christmas day a terrorist tried to blowup an airplane and failed. I had specifically predicted there could be a terrorist attack on Christmas day last month due to the conjunction of Rahu with Mercury and Pluto squaring Saturn conjunct the Sun. Additionally Mercury turned retrograde on December 26, 2009. These events will be on the rise and we must be in defensive mode while the planetary configurations intensify in hard aspect throughout this year.
Vedic Astrology Classes Start in January
There have been many requests that I have Vedic astrology classes. So, with Jupiter now in Aquarius, I will be teaching live classes again! Classes will be held at our restaurant (Patry's), where the Galactic Center offices also. Read more...Anger in all areas is on the increase. Due to the struggles last year, new ways for making money will sprout up. The economy will eventually improve but the prospect of war increases. The economy gets better in the time of war due to an increase of suppliers for products important to war. I know that is not a pleasant thought but we are exchanging one problem for another and again everything happens for a reason.

Overall 2010 will be a year that many formerly suppressed issues will be addressed. Even though there will be radial events pertaining to terrorism, a focus on resolution for the problems that have plagued our world will begin a healing of the horrific ongoing conditions. These conditions are a result of the deeper issues that need healing.

The attitude of hope and faith that we will find the answers we seek to our problems will bring a healing and positive change to our lives and world. I believe in 2010 we will have a completely different attitude that will produce a healing from the depressing dilemmas of last year. Our minds and attitudes will change the world. Jupiter in Aquarius increases our hope and inspires us to find solutions to our problems. While Jupiter was in Capricorn there was a loss of hope needed to overcome the intense down turn of the economy. All we could do was focus in on how bad everything was, not focusing on what needs to be done to bring healing.

We lost our hope and inspiration last year, now it is time to rebuild our hope, faith and beliefs. This is what will turn our lives and world around. Our belief of the mystical and spiritual gives us the inspiration to live a life of joy. Know that there is a divine plan and we are being protected and guided by spiritual forces. Build your spiritual faith and know you are connected to the Divine force and your life will change in beautiful and remarkable ways. You will begin to discover the joy in life.

I have sad news to report that my dear friend Diana Riviere is very ill with cancer and is not expected to live to the New Year. Diana is one of my closest friends. She helped me run the Dallas Metaphysical Center. It opened in 1994, and later became the Galactic Center in 1999. She then helped me put on the conferences Eastern Astrology for Western Minds. Then she published Ken Johnson’s recent book Jaguar Wisdom and helped me conduct the workshop Ken put on this past summer regarding the year 2012. Those that attended these events may not know of her because in her humble service she worked behind the scenes. Diana is a beautiful soul, such a great listener. Her tireless service to the astrological community is remarkable, always giving of herself. I know she will be rejoicing soon in a beautiful place. She definitely will reap her blessed karmic rewards. I will miss her so much! [Update: Dear Diana passed at 10:55 am the morning of 1/2/2010.]

Mercury conjunct Sun (combust): When Mercury is retrograde and is conjunct the Sun this denotes the deepest point of the retrograde. This means the mind is unclear and actually there is a block to awareness or consciousness. This is a day of mishaps and confusion. Do not sign contracts or begin any new businesses. There is much that cannot be seen during this time. The mind is clouded and prone to deception.

Mercury conjunct Venus: Mercury and Venus are both combust during this time obliterating the mind and sense of beauty and creativity. Venus is the planet for our creative powers.

Venus conjunct Sun (combust): Venus and the Sun seem to follow along together for a long time this month, even conjunct the New Moon where Venus, Sun and Moon are the same degree. Even though the Sun will obliterate the light of Venus the New Moon initiates with the energy of Venus, therefore the next 2 weeks will be very potent in terms of love and affection coming into our lives. Venus is the planet of relationships and love, and can cause the importance of our relationships to surface, particularly the understanding the meaning of love.

Venus conjunct Rahu: Venus with Rahu can bring intense feeling of love, opening many positive opportunities for exchanges in love and affection. This aspect can bring relationships and connections into your life, particularly people from your past. Just make sure your connections are positive and healthy not obsessive or compulsive. Rahu is the planet of addictions and conjoined Venus can make one possessive and controlling in relationships.

Saturn turns retrograde 10 degrees Virgo: This is a time of deep introspection and time to reorganize the parts of your life that do not work. It is time to clean out your home and body. Healing is the keyword for Saturn in Virgo. As for world events, many setbacks and delays are occurring now for Saturn is the planet of difficulties, endings and setbacks. This is a time for reorganization within our government. If you happen to have planets at 10 degrees of Virgo you will have many challenges, but the results will depend on your work and integrity. Saturn gives your just rewards. Actually any planet around 10 degrees of a mutable sign will have their challenges at this time; that is 10 degrees of Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces, and Gemini.

Mercury turns direct 11 degrees Sagittarius: The day a planet changes direction causes a change of attitudes and confusion. Even though Mercury is turning direct which means things will shift and begin to move in forward motion, this is not the day to travel or make plans for things will get crazy. Expect delays and problems when traveling. It is time to be careful with your communications for the mind is shifting and confusion is the result. It is advised to wait until Mercury is moving forward at a faster pace to make plans. This takes at least a week, to be safe.

New Moon/Solar eclipse 1 degree Capricorn Uttara Ashadha nakshatra: as mentioned before, this New Moon is conjunct Venus giving it a more pleasant hopeful feeling. Uttara Ashadha is the nakshatra that means the Latter Victory. It is a highly spiritual nakshatra believing in truth with a high degree of integrity. The only issue can be extreme righteousness. This can indicate the mounting of religious righteousness and war due to extremist beliefs. We must be on guard and protect ourselves from this fanaticism.

Venus opposed Mars and 01/29 Sun opposed Mars: Both Venus and the Sun will be in opposition to Mars during this time, January 27-29. There are conflicts concerning differences in opinions. This is a time to just agree to disagree. Fighting and explosive behavior will top the news.

Uranus changes into Pisces: Uranus remains in a sign for approximately 7 years. Uranus entered briefly into Pisces once and retrograded out last year, but now the change is here to stay. Pisces is a profound sign for Uranus because it represents the final frontier, which is space and spirituality. This will shift our awareness to a much broader scope with new discoveries concerning health and outer space. In the next 7 years, life expectancy will grow due to new realizations and there will be breakthroughs with medicine, and discoveries regarding outer space. This will change our perspective on our world and our existence.

Full Moon 16 degrees Cancer Pushya nakshatra: This full Moon has the Moon conjunct Mars opposed Venus conjunct the Sun. This indicates there are arguments and disruptions upsetting the peace in our world globally as well as in our personal lives. If you have been experiencing relationship problems this is the time anger and resentments will surface. This can be very healing to confront and face the issues that have been causing you to feel annoyed. Realize the volcano must sometimes explode to bring resolution to problems you have been denying. Globally this can literally produce volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.

Saturn square Pluto: This aspect has been in effect this entire month and will flavor the entire year. Saturn rules old and outdated laws, structure and beliefs, and Pluto will challenge these to the max. This will produce breakdowns, explosive events and endings for many. This can apply to the general trends in people’s lives and countries but it will also end many lives. I have seen the effects of Pluto through many lives, clients, friends and family members. Pluto, the God of Death, has definitely produced this effect. There are many who are choosing to leave the planet this year. If you have personal planets around these degrees you will not be immune to the difficultly and transformation Pluto and Saturn produce. The degrees around 4-15 degrees Virgo and Sagittarius are most intense, and very intense will be 4-15 degrees Pisces/Gemini. These are the markings involved in the grand mutable cross this year.
