Spiritual Insights
The fall season is one of my favorite times of year for this is the time
when we feel a sense of the mystical time of life. The cool breezes
seem to set in and the Earth becomes a blaze with the bright vivid
colors of red and orange. I am speaking of my experiences here in the
northern hemisphere, I am sure there is a feeling of change and a sense
of the mystery of life as well during this time in the southern
hemisphere. It becomes a time when we turn within and it is said that
during the time of Halloween the veil that separates the physical world
from the spiritual world is the thinnest. For the celebration of all
saints day is November 1st and the eve of this day is Halloween the day
that all the spirits roam the Earth. Whether you are aware of such
things it has a certain feel that inspires the desire to open and
change.
During these past difficult years within our global economy many have
had struggles with fear and financial markets. No doubt life has been
very challenging for most of us. So I ask myself, "What are we here to
learn out of these experiences?" I have to believe there is a reason for
everything for all experiences are leading us to a higher and more
developed awareness. There is a time to expand and for growth, and a
time for retracting or pulling in. Everything on Earth follows these
cycles of change whether it pertains to the seasons, life, awakening and
sleeping. I have compared a lifetime to a day in our life because they
are much the same, for with both there is a birth and then a time of
withdrawal which can relate to sleep or to time we are asleep between
lives. The ebb and flow of the tides are symbolic of this process of
cycles. The harvesting of crops and planets all follow this cycle.
Astrology is the study of these cycles. Just the awareness of the cycle
of the Moon reflects the ebb and flow. This is the process of life here
on Earth. We are here to use these times for what they represent and
what they are good for.
I am a firm believer in positive thinking but we must recognize what we
are meant to prepare for instead of forcing our wants onto something
that is not possible. There is a positive within every time frame and
cycle, and when we acclimate ourselves to what is the best path to go
during a certain time then we are living our lives in a place of
harmony. As the saying goes, "To everything there is a season." I love
what my teacher Dennis Flaherty used to say about the right time to do
certain things to get the best result. He would say, "To get a suntan
would you go out (in the northern hemisphere) at midnight in the month
of January, or at noon in July?" Yes, there is a time and place for
everything to get the best results and of course we as astrologers can
choose the time and place for different events so they will have the
best possible outcome.
My point here is that during the last five years the planetary cycles
have been telling us that it is time to withdraw our energy and enact a
different mode of action. There will be a time again when we can move
forward full force. The times that Mercury goes retrograde are meant to
be a time of pulling in and reviewing what you have completed up unto
that time but in our westernized culture we still push forward with our
entire mite and then wonder why our actions are counterproductive. It is
time to accept the low ebb of the tide that has just occurred and
prepare for a more productive future. Surrender to the seasons of life
and you will be in the flow and productive. Change is a good thing we
all appreciate and desire. Don't swim upstream, as it is too hard to
do. Go with the flow and everything will be the way it is meant to be.
This will give us a life worth living full of happiness, love and
appreciation.
Now is the time to become more introspective and connect to the mystical
and spiritual side of life. Connecting to this powerful aspect will
make life more meaningful and purposeful. With this attention to our
spirit we will understand the power of each and every moment of our
lives. With this realization, life is more fun and each and every minute
will have meaning. Each and every relationship you form will teach you
something more about yourself and you will gain from each experience
developing and growing through your expanding awareness. Ultimately you
will connect and understand why you are here and have an awakening.
Enjoy this beautiful month of October for it is an especially beautiful
time with expanded Venus in Libra connecting us more to our loved ones
and opening us to meeting more people who we can form lasting and
beautiful relationships. Love is the answer and Venus is Libra gives us
all the opportunity to experience love and affection.

Mercury is in a very intense place during this month because it is in Virgo where it is exalted. Opposing Jupiter and Uranus opens-up opportunities in new discoveries possibly concerning medicine, since it is in Virgo, as well as the aspect of Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces will give sight into discoveries in outer space. This can lead to a new mode for thinking and seeing the world. Many believe the onset of 2012 will open eyes to the discovery of aliens and communication with other worlds. These astrological aspects certainly predict a major discovery that can profoundly change our world and consciousness.

10/03/2010 Venus conjunct Mars
These two energies are complete opposites. Even the signs they both rule are always in opposition. Aries is opposed Libra and Scorpio is opposed Taurus. But at the same time opposites attract and oppositions are all about relationships. This is a time where the merging of love and harmony bring together those who need a sense of completion through a partnership. As in a business partnership there needs to be two different individuals who have completely different skills so that they fill in the gaps of the other. This is the merging of opposites to complete the whole. Relationships will be a focus in most everyone's life. This is the time to meet and socialize for the opportunity for a new relationship has never been greater.
10/07/2010 New Moon 20 Virgo Hasta nakshatra
Hasta means hand and this nakshatra symbolizes the ability to grasp and hold on to ideas. It can mean to reach out and touch others as well. The hand is important in so many ways, it gives us the ability to make things, be creative as in writing, building, healing and playing sports. We shake hands when we first meet so the hand is our first touch when bringing people together. In palmistry the hand holds the map of our lives in the palm of our hand. It is there for us to see at any time.
In this New Moon chart Saturn and Mercury are conjunct in the sign of Virgo. This will intensify the sign Virgo. Virgo rules healing, health, digestion and assimilation, such as with food or ideas. As Virgo falls in the fall, it also pertains to the harvest of many crops before the season changes to the barren period of winter. Mercury in Virgo is very mental and works out problems in a very methodical way.
Conclusions and answers will be revealed through intense mental focus. The fact that Saturn is conjunct Mercury gives extreme focus and many unresolved issues will find an answer. This can be a time of new revelation and understanding for Virgo as the 6th sign relating to the 6th house will pertains to work and health. Heath matters will find new answers, especially to the age-old problems of obesity and problems that concern the digestion and assimilation of the body.
10/08/2010 Venus turns retrograde 19 degrees Libra
Venus in the sign of Libra is my absolute favorite place for Venus. I know Venus is exalted in Pisces which makes Venus the most powerful and Venus is all about pleasure, luxuries, and love. But the reason why I am so fond of Venus in Libra is because the sign Libra is all about relationships, and love. There is nothing in this world that can make you feel better than when you feel like you are loved. Love is the power that gives happiness, and healing. Love is the answer and Libra is the 7th sign. The 7th house rules marriage and serious and exclusive relationships. Another aspect that I love about Libra is the ability to relate and connect with others in a very social way. Libra loves social activities and being a cardinal air sign makes it the most social sign of the zodiac. Libra loves to connect and communicate in a graceful charming way. They have the gift of gab and make you feel important. Venus rules Libra so it enhances the Venusians' qualities of love, harmony, balance, beauty and luxuries.
When a planet goes retrograde it brings focus to the energies that planet rules into our lives, which means there will be a focus in the area of relationships, love, beauty, the arts, peace and balance while Venus is retrograde. These are all things we definitely need here now on planet Earth. The duality of life will be clear, and the clear definitions of these opposites will bring a need to share and balance these apparent opposites. For example of opposites, Mars rules war and Venus rules peace. I have noted that following a Venus retrograde, 9 months following its completion there are usually peace agreements that come out of this intense focus on the areas Venus rules.
Be aware that retrograde periods generally bring specific things from the past to be reassessed. And for this time frame while Venus is retrograde in Libra the sign of relationships be aware that relationships or past loves may reemerge. This is for you to either recognize and learn something from the past that you formally missed, or a realization from the past that is helping you understand where your mistakes were and how to change to grow and have better relationships. Or if you have had a past love you feel strongly about and feel it is unresolved, now is the time they may return into your life. Remember more than anytime on planet Earth, Love is the answer.
10/16/2010 Mercury conjunct Sun (combust)
Mercury is now traveling at a good speed and has finished the retrograde cycle it previously just completed. It is out of the area that it was retrograde in, so many affairs in life will begin to manifest and move forward. Last month with both Mercury and Jupiter retrograde any new beginnings had false starts. As Mercury travels together with the Sun it gives an awareness of truth and wisdom for it is also with Saturn. Mercury with Saturn are friendly, they give concentration and focus, but the Sun and Saturn are enemies and until the Sun leaves the sign of Saturn we will have a serious and depressive nature to this time period.
10/17/2010 Mercury and Sun change signs into Libra
As the Sun leaves the sign where Saturn resides the heaviness will leave, but now we have a month where the Sun is weaker in energy for the Sun is debilitated in Libra. But always this is the time of year when the planet is going through substantial changes for a new season. In the northern hemisphere we are in fall and prepare ourselves for the winter, but in the southern hemisphere the preparation is for spring. Change is in the air. The Sun in the sign of Libra is all about surrendering yourself to the wants and needs of others, it is a time of compromise. The symbol or glyph for Libra is actually a setting Sun on the horizon, for the descendant where the Sun sets is the 7th house and here is where we give ourselves to others in relationships. It is a time of sharing and giving of our selves.
10/19/2010 Mars changes signs into Scorpio
Now this is a sign Mars loves to transit through. Mars picks up power and strength in Scorpio. Mars in Scorpio gives passion, drive, ambition and energy. Mars is the planet of intelligence, real estate, anger and war. There are certain fixed stars in this constellation that rule war such as the famous "Antares." This can bring about war like qualities and aggression on planet Earth. People seem to have deep feelings and short fuses when Mars is in this sign. Mars in Scorpio will warm up the economic pressures around real estate and new solutions will emerge but the threat of war will be on the rise, for there is more aggression and anger globally.
When Mars enters into Sagittarius next month, in late November and through December there will severe terrorist threats for Mars will join Rahu and Pluto crossing over the previous Solar Eclipse degree. This will be the trigger that everyone has feared for it will begin to be apparent during the transit of Mars through Scorpio. This is where the anger is forming before the final blow that occurs when Mars is in Sagittarius. This point in Sagittarius is exactly where Mars was on September 11th 2001, exactly on the ascendant of the USA's chart I use, Transiting Mars at that time was conjoin transiting Ketu in Sagittarius. There is nothing more weird and delusional than a Mars Neptune contact. Around the times when Mars and Neptune are in a hard aspect you are foggy, tuned-out and lost. This is not the time to make a major decision for you will discover at a later date you do not have all the facts. Before getting out, make sure you are clear with your directions and know where you are going. This is a time of frustration and confusion.
Since Neptune rules oil expect oil prices to rise, but at least this is a quick aspect and will be over soon. Watch stocks concerning oil bounce up and down.
10/22/2010 Full Moon 5 degrees Aries Ashwini nakshatra
Ashwini is the very first nakshatra in Aries. It pertains to news that travels fast and pertains to traveling. The full Moon in Ashwini can be a time to initiate a new activity such as starting a new business or setting out on a business trip. It is about new beginnings and fast movement to the desired result.
10/25/2010 Mercury conjunct Venus
This is a time of peaceful conversations. This is a great aspect to have social events and parties for people are apt to want to communicate and understand one another, Mercury is all about communication and Venus is love and happiness, together in the sign Libra you have a great gathering and memorable party.
10/28/2010 Venus conjunct Sun (combust)
Venus is not happy too close to the Sun so be aware that the peace loving aspect of Venus may be a bit burned-up by being too close to the Sun. Avoid matters that pertain or rely on Venus' qualities of peace, harmony, and love for today you will find them lacking in your day.
10/28/2010 Ketu aspect Sun (trine) and 10/31/2010 Ketu aspect Venus (trine)
During this time matters of peace harmony and love seem void on the planet, for Ketu gives a sense of emptiness or a void where ever it is in the sky or chart. This may mean people are craving attention or love that they feel is non-existent in their lives. This can be a time where people over react for they are more sensitive and fearful. Accidents are more prominent when the nodes aspect Venus since Venus rules all vehicles from cars to aircraft. Halloween can have some surprises keep your eyes open.

 Each night as we retire to go to sleep, we surrender to that day and its events. This is just like our surrender to death. Dying is much like surrendering to a night of sleep. Do we struggle and fight going to sleep at night? No, it is a natural process to retire from a full day. So it is the same to surrender to a time of rest after a full life.
