Spiritual Insights
This past weekend I spoke at a conference on Science and Spirituality in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. It was the first of its kind, the first International Conference on Holistic Vision and Integral Living. It was held in Oak Ridge because this is the Mecca for scientist and research.
In 1942, this "secret city" sprang up in a Tennessee valley, as Allied scientists raced to beat the Germans at developing enriched uranium to fuel the first atomic bomb. Oak Ridge was one of the 3 secret cities in this Manhattan Project. In this quaint little southern town, lies some of the most intellectual scientist of our country. This is where Albert Einstein worked on the Atomic bomb. Einstein is a revered scientist here for he believed in blending science and spirituality. He also worked with my favorite study, Astrology. One of the purposes of this conference was to blend the two, science and spirituality. The atomic bomb was created in a pursuit to create peace, and Einstein was overwhelmed with grief over the destruction it created.
I was brought to this conference to discuss my paper on “Understanding Duality.” As I reflect on the weekend I ask myself why was I there and what was I to learn from this powerful conference. I came to realize my lecture topic is exactly what I am to learn. The duality I spoke of focused around the duality of “Separation verses Unity,” which relates essentially to the “Ego" or "Love." But to think of the dire consequences of World War II, and what the result could have been like if Hitler created the bomb before us. Is this being fearful and do we need to be fearful to protect ourselves? This boils down to the duality of “War or Peace." You can postulate all day on all this but a very wonderful thing presented itself at this high-minded conference.
You see there was a saint there blessing everyone who attended, Dada Bhagwan. One of the messages I received out of his talks was that yes, there is a duality but we are here to overcome this sense of separateness. A way that he described it is through the purity and naturalness of “nature." To understand nature is to understand all of science and spirituality. While the scientist are dissecting the riddle of “nature” spiritualist seek to live like nature. Both know there is a Divine order to nature and this order of nature can be comprehended as the “Secrets of the Universe.” The laws of nature never change. They are consistent. Basically it is the Laws of “Cause and Effect.” It is unconditional. It is also the “Laws of Karma." You see nature has no agenda or preferences. It is natural and unassuming. But within nature is the spirit that gives life to everything on this planet. You cannot bargain with nature or the Divine for it is unbiased, always fair and loving. This Divine force treats us the same no matter what we have achieved or acquired. There are no privileges to those who are smarter, richer, or prettier. We are all one.
My lecture was around the Unity of mankind and the place the astrological chart plays in the enlightenment process of a human being. To understand the astrological chart is to understand the nature of each human being. The patterns and formations the planets form in the sky are reflected in the patterns of our society and the issues people will experience during that time. Astrology is gives understanding and allows us to read the messages in the heavens to awaken us both collectively and individually. These patterns and ages of mankind reflect the development of mankind. Everything that is occurring in the heavens is actually occurring within us. And so the old saying goes, “As above, so below."
We actually have our own solar systems within each of us, through the chakras. Chakras are the energy centers within us. Chakra actually means “spinning wheels” in Sanskrit. There are 7 major charkas in our bodies and each one is aligned with one of the 7 planets of our solar system. (The outer planets are transpersonal and relate to the collective unconscious. They relate to the generational changes and collective trends on Earth). The planets seen with the naked eye are aligned with our chakras. The alignment is the same as our solar system. This order is Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon and Sun. This is how we are connected to our own solar system within us. Each chakra rules over a glandular system within our bodies.

When there are difficult planetary patterns in the sky it disrupts everyone according to what chakra is being affected both individually and collectively. This is how an astrologer knows what to expect globally and personally for each individual being on Earth. Saturn rules the root chakra indicating the natural fear instinct, Jupiter rules the reproductive chakra indicating creativity and as these planets oppose each other currently we all could learn to be more involved with the creative force of life to rid ourselves of the constant fear of Saturn which is the fear of lack or that there is not enough abundance to go around for everyone. We are all affected by these patterns within. So therefore when you know where the issues will be you can give guidance as to what the issue is and how to work on it.
In the Vedas (Oldest Indian scriptures) astrology is called the eyes of the Vedas, called Jyotish, it was given to us to give sight into the darkness of our world today. Astrology is called the “Holy Science,” by Paramahansa Yogananda’s Guru, Vedic astrologer, Swami Shi Yukteswar. I use astrology to understand the Laws of nature and the collective and individual trends of mankind. Ultimately, through this understanding we must use our Free Will to overcome all the adversity created by the ignorance of mankind. This ignorance is motivated by fear. Astrology is a science and depends on the laws of nature to operate. This understanding gives the power to heal the issues plagued by mankind. Astrology was meant to give the secrets of the universe and that is the understanding of what is self-realization, which is to know oneself is to understand everything in the Universe. It is all within us.
Daily Practice
We cannot obliterate the fear on this planet in our lifetime but you can become consciously aware of the fear-based beliefs in your own individual world. Know that there is a reason for everything and we are all here to understand this simple truth, which is to live consciously, recognizing the pitfalls of our daily life. Unite with the natural oneness of nature and understand you are as organic and natural as the purity of nature. The beauty and magnificence of nature and our planet is overwhelming. From the precision of the planetary cycles, the fact that the rising sun never falters, the development and growth of the plants and trees, to the instincts within animals. This is the harmony we seek to find our peace and reverence in this beautiful planet. If man could live in harmony as all of nature there would be no suffering on this planet for suffering is only in the mind of man.
Make it a point to live consciously each day, recognizing any fear motivated thoughts and chose again thoughts of love. Fearful thoughts motivate you to live in fear attracting more situations full of fear. You must be in control of your thoughts otherwise your thoughts will control you. It is important that you put out the energy you want returned in your life. Look for the good in others and give your time and energy to help everyone around you and you will see a vast difference in your life. This is as natural and gentle as the peaceful unity of nature. Know that the same essence of the Divine is in everyone you meet and every living thing. This is living consciously. We want everyone to have happiness for what you wish for others you receive back to yourself, this is the law of nature. Instead of prayers for yourself send prayers for your friends and loved ones. This is the way that the Divine works and when you operate like the Divine you will become one with the Divine.
A very important part of this process is to know your prayers are heard, this is trust and faith, for in this knowingness you have surrendered. To surrender means you trust in the faith of the Divine to work through you as a compassionate loving soul. The results are happiness, peace and love in your life through allowing the essence of God to operate through you. This will connect you to the Unity and Oneness of all mankind and this awakening is our purpose in life.
To be in the presence of a self-realized soul has brought me back to the knowing of why we are here.

09/01/2010 Venus changes signs into Libra
Venus is in its sign of exaltation activating Venus’ positive qualities to promote love and affection. Venus was in its worse sign (debilitated in Virgo) throughout August, which made people cold and detached from each other. There will be a definite change in the behavior of the mass consciousness.

For the rest of this year Venus will be in Libra. It changes into Libra September 1st and remains there until December 31st. It is retrograde October 8th through November 18th. Libra is the sign that indicates relationships. So while Venus is in this love producing sign many relationships will begin and many existing relationships will become deeper. Libra is a very social sign meaning there will be more social events and gatherings during this month. It is time to get out and meet new people for it can lead to some great opportunities.
09/03/2010 Mercury conjunct Sun (combust), Rahu aspect Sun and Mercury
This conjunction of Mercury with the Sun and both are being aspected by Rahu. This will intensify mental pursuits and even create some extreme obsessive suspicions. This can bring out hidden agendas in terms of religious rights activists. Rahu in the sign of Sagittarius will intensify the righteousness of those with extreme belief systems.
09/05/2010 Mars changes signs into Libra
Mars is weak in Libra which can be good for violence and anger. Mars is also transiting close to Venus through the sign of Libra. This combination can be powerful for love and relationships. This empowers magnetism and sudden attractions. Those with Gemini and Aries ascendants will have this combination in the houses pertaining to love and romance.
09/08/2010 New Moon 21 degrees Leo Purva Phalguni nakshatra
This is the nakshatra ruling social interaction and is the front part of the marriage cot. This time period before the next new moon will bring people together with a positive loving purpose. It is time to plan social events and spend time with those you love. With Venus approaching its retrograde phase next month be aware of the potential this aspect has of bringing past loves back into your life.
09/12/2010 Mercury turns direct 11 degrees Leo
This entire month many laws will be addressed that no longer serve the public. Leo pertains to leaders and rulers and this retrograde period is powerful to clean up of the previous court dealings and will direct progress in the area of immigration and past scandals. This is a productive month for clearing the air and finding flaws in any system. From this point on progress will move us forward.

09/13/2010 Pluto turns direct 8 degrees Sagittarius
This is a very powerful turn of events. When outer planets turn direct then they shift the attention and emotions of the world. This particular place of 8 degrees of Sagittarius is on the Galactic Center. This placement can be very volatile. During this stationing period now, this will fire up many fanatical people and sets the stage for conflict to grow over the next few months. The time period I see as very dangerous is in December when Mars joins Pluto and Rahu on the Galactic Center. It was here that Mars conjoined Ketu on September 11, 2001. Pluto pertains to transformation and in the nakshatra Mula there will be the need for destruction in order to produce the changes needed for growth on our planet.
09/16/2010 Sun changes signs into Virgo
The next 30 days the Sun is in the sign Virgo focusing on health and well being. It will be tied into the forming Grand Cross stirring up more action that appears in the economy. The Sun will combine with Saturn indicating a serious look at economics and the state of health crisis globally. Talks of immunizations for the flu season puts fear into the people through the media.
09/18/2010 Jupiter conjunct Uranus
This is the 2nd conjunction of these two powerful planets, the first one occurred in June and the last one will occur in January. The degree of this conjunction takes place around 3-6 degrees Pisces each time. If you have natal planets around this degree in Pisces you will have a certain breakthrough in your life that will put you on a different path. This will bring a breakthrough for the consciousness of the world.
09/22/2010 Ketu aspect Venus (trine)
This aspect with Venus will activate your yearning for love and attention. This emotion can evoke a sense of how it felt when you were in love. This is a time to actually process feelings of love and emotion you had previously in your life. A healing concerning a past relationship is possible.
09/23/2010 Full Moon 6 degrees Pisces, Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra
This full Moon activates the Grand Cross in the mutable signs (Sidereal), (cardinal/Tropical). This full Moon will shed light on the worldly matters that have been taking place for all of last year. If we can open our eyes to the reality of what is going on around us then we can take responsibility and change patterns for the better. But pretending things are not the way they are will hit us blindsided.
09/25/2010 Sun square Pluto
Pluto and the Sun are in hard aspect 4 times a year (2 squares, 1 opposition, 1 conjunction), but this does set the stage for what needs to change so society may be more productive.
09/26/2010 Ketu aspect Mars (trine)
This is a critical time, for much that has been hidden is clear for us to see. It is time to understand what direction to go in during this realization period. If you are faced with a big decision, ask if you are being motivated by fear or love. This should answer your question as to what direction to take in your life.
09/30/2010 Mercury changes signs into Virgo
Mercury is exalted in Virgo, and it is picking up speed from its last retrograde cycle. This is a great time to sign contracts arrange any business meetings. Mental clarity is strong and decisions and contracts signed during this time will produce growth and prosperity.
09/30/2010 Sun conjunct Saturn
Somber attitudes cause many to rethink their plans for the future. Saturn can be a depressing force and extinguishes the light of the Sun. This is a time when the reality of life does sink in. You may be way too pessimistic.
The new moon chart for September 8, 2010 for Washington DC indicates a new start for many new policies in the United States because this new moon occurs on the ascendant in the 1st house. It is all beginning to take place but the results of what is being initiated cannot be seen until later. Saturn is in the 2nd house indicating the financial reality of this nation has not improved as much as the media has indicated. The money simply isn’t there to count on. Jupiter in the 8th house opposed Saturn conjunct Uranus means the banks are in trouble. They don’t have the means to lend the money needed to ignite the economy. This could be a volatile month for the stock market as well with Pluto and Rahu in the 5th house of speculation. There is no certainty or security in this world currently. We must work on our feelings of love and appreciation for those that we love to empower the consciousness to overcome the fear in the world. Venus in Libra can be the means to activate love more so in our own lives and then, consequently, affecting the world as a whole.

Surrender
If you choose to be indignant, self-righteous, and justified about your feelings instead of surrendering to your fears, you will remain where you are. But if you are ready to change and receive that which you desire, be prepared to face some unpleasant aspects of yourself and your life. It can be a very humbling experience. Remember, we are never given anything we cannot handle.
