| Who's in the News - Tiger Woods |
|
Tiger Woods is the all star athlete who has shattered his good boy wholesome image with the recent media publicity. His bizarre behavior and accident outside his home only scratched the surface of the marital turmoil brewing. Golf is a sport of precision and attention to detail. Tiger has a Virgo ascendant which is the most analytical and focused ascendant. The ruler of his chart is Mercury (because it rules Virgo) which rules mental ability is placed in the 5th house indicating mental focus and talent. Saturn rules discipline and aspects Mercury. The 5th house is the house of talent, creativity, and intelligence. Mercury is in Capricorn ruled by Saturn further indicating his discipline and focus. His father no doubt was a driving force in his life and golf career. The 9th house is the house for father in Vedic astrology. Mars in his 9th house indicates his father was his motivation, but without the aspect of Venus and the Moon from the 3rd house his father would not have been able to affect his life in a positive and meaningful way. Venus rules the 9th house and aspects the 9th house. A rule in Vedic astrology is that when a planet rules and aspects a house it empowers the house for whatever the house is good for. This means the father was a powerful and good influence in his life. Looking at his chart in terms of the current turmoil, the issues and problems do not seem to be obvious to me. When considering issues of disgrace and loss I usually consider the 8th or 12th houses. The 8th house indicates disgrace and the 12th house is loss. The one point that was activated during this time was his natal Ketu in his 8th house. Whatever house Ketu is in will reveal where there is lack or a void in someone’s life. Therefore, there is a continual drive to fill the void in their life. Tiger has his void in the 8th house. The 8th house can indicate a fascination with power, money, and sexuality. All of these issues deal with control and manipulation and ultimately when misused bring disgrace. I believe the nodes of the moon, Rahu and Ketu indicate our karmic issues. Rahu brings us into the world through our desires and karma, and Ketu is our losses and eventually death but it does specifically drive us to spiritual liberation within a lifetime. We seek our spirituality through the placement of Ketu in our chart. Ketu in the 8th house will teach one to relinquish our need to control and manipulate others, and eventually learn to trust others and the spirit within. The 8th house pertains to issues of trust, for those with major planets here are never able to trust others. Their experiences involve lessons with money, trust, control and manipulation. For Tiger, he felt control and power though his position and money but as he tried to control others through these means it backfired and now he is dealing with the main issue indicated by the 8th house, disgrace. Humiliation is the result, but the real lesson is humility. Tiger’s natal Ketu was aspected by transiting Rahu during the time of this recent outburst. The nodes of the Moon (Rahu and Ketu) have the full aspect of the trine like Jupiter in Vedic astrology. This means they aspect by 5 and 9 signs forward from their placements either natally or in transit. Transiting Rahu is now 27 degrees Sagittarius aspecting his natal Ketu in the 8th house at 27 degrees Aries. Transiting planets simply trigger the natal planets activating the possibilities of their placement resulting in the timing of events in a lifetime. Rahu and Ketu are the indications of karmic issues and their activation brought this karmic issue to the surface now for Tiger. Another transit that contributed to his marital discord is transiting Saturn to his natal Venus. Saturn’s full aspect is three signs forward from its position. Transiting Saturn will aspect natal Venus two more times over the course of this year in the spring and fall. This definitely indicates problems in love. Transiting Mars has passed over his natal Saturn in the 11th house last October and it will station on his Mars in March. This will be a major blowout concerning his marriage, friends and associations (11th house) and hurt over his children. Saturn rules the 5th house of children. I believe there was a major argument in October during this transit. But as I have pointed out in many of the charts previously Saturn is the planet that brings the truth to the surface, and transiting Saturn entered his 1st house as it entered Virgo in September. Saturn in his 1st house is aspecting his 7th house of marriage. Those with Virgo ascendants will face any short comings in their marriage or relationships. It is time for truth and the consequences. The dashas or planetary periods are the predictive tool used by Vedic astrologers to see the enfoldment of the entire life of an individual. They are based on the natal moon and the nakshatras in the birth chart. At the time of this event Tiger was in the Sun’s maha dasha and Venus sub cycle (bhukti). When in a particular planetary cycle the dasha ruler becomes the reference point of the chart and all the other planets are in relationship to the main dasha ruler, which in his case is the Sun. This means that the dasha ruler becomes the new ascendant and all the other planets come into play from the view of the new ascendant, particularly the sub cycle (bhukti) planetary ruler which is Venus. Since he is in the Sun’s cycle it becomes the new ascendant and Venus is in the 12th house from the Sun. Venus is the indicator for the spouse in a man’s chart, therefore Venus in the 12th position from the Sun can indicate the loss of the spouse or relationship. The Sun in his birth chart rules his 12th house and during the duration of this 6 year cycle he has had loss in many areas of his life. He will leave the Sun dasha June 14th 2010. Then he will enter into the 10 year Moon dasha which change his life dramatically. One thing that will not change is his problem within relationships for Mars is 7th from the Moon indicating problems with marriage and relationships. The Moon becomes the new focal point or the new ascendant during this planetary cycle or dasha. Looking forward to the future transits I do not see any hope for Tiger’s marriage for transiting Saturn has just entered into his 1st house last September where it will remain for the next two years. This means it is aspecting his 7th house of marriage and relationships. As Saturn aspects his natal Jupiter in his 7th house of marriage the marriage will be over or finalized. Jupiter is not only in his 7th house but also rules his 7th house which gives it double meaning for indications for marriage. As transiting Saturn opposes natal Jupiter ruler of the 7th house in the 7th house there is no hope for reconciliation plus the dasha sequence will be Moon maha dasha, Mars bhukti. This definitely means marital discord and divorce. The marriage may be long over before this time but the repercussions will be in action then. Jupiter is also the karaka of children in a chart and transiting Saturn’s aspect to natal Jupiter will indicate separation for him and his children. Tiger’s misfortune will be in the news for some time for transiting Ketu is in his 10th house indicating loss with his reputation and career. Additionally, transiting Rahu will cross over his Sun in the 4th house indicating more disgrace and loss of family and home. Transiting Pluto is nearing his Sun which is never easy and can indicate health problems. As transiting Jupiter aspects his natal Jupiter April 2011 he may temporarily find love again but not with his wife, for he is not in a promising dasha sequence during this time, Moon/Mars. A little trick I have found when both transiting Saturn and Jupiter aspect a point in a chart the planet that is last to make an aspect will leave the effect. Saturn takes away and Jupiter gives. So with Tiger transiting Jupiter will conjunct his natal Jupiter in his 7th house of marriage BUT transiting Saturn will oppose Jupiter after Jupiter has made its conjunction. Transiting Saturn will oppose his natal Jupiter September 2011. This means he will have misfortune in relationships. What he had before he will lose. It will be a long time before he gets back on track. Tiger will have many regrets from this experience but the spiritual lesson of Ketu will prevail and for Tiger he will learn to trust and love again without the issue of control and manipulation. Love and money will have new meanings for Tiger.

"Nothing feels worse than the feeling of no control, no choice or freedom. It is like being a child in an abusive home; there is no hope, no way out. But the suggestion that we have free will, the freedom to choose our life and destiny, is invigorating and frees the spirit" |
