from Joni's book - Awaken to the Truth Is religious righteousness the culprit for all fighting and war? Most religions believe their God and beliefs are the only way to eternal salvation. To be in their special chosen group means they are the only ones to be saved and go to Heaven. They control their groups through fear, and now fear is the controlling force of our world. Religion has caused separation instead of unity in humanity. When people as a whole understand and unite as one, believing in one God, and separate the message from their messenger, be it Jesus, Moses, Mohammad, Buddha or Krishna, then humanity can unite in peace and understanding. People tend to use religion as the reason for their actions, therefore making themselves not responsible for their actions. This way they can justify their fight, but usually it is based on greed or selfish desires. They must fight for their God, when in reality it is about what they want. We must take responsibility for our own actions. Make sure when you pray for peace it is not on your terms. Pray for peace, but do not be attached to how the peace comes about. Relinquish the need to control others. Pay attention to likeness instead of the differences in all that we are and believe. |

"I can elect to change all thoughts that hurt. Only my condemnation injures me. Only my own forgiveness sets me free. How deceived I was to think that what I feared was in the world, instead of in my own mind. Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict. As forgiveness allows love to return to my awareness, I will see a world of peace and safety and joy. This world will change through you. No other means can save it. My forgiveness is the means by which the world is healed, together with myself, let me then forgive the world, that it may be healed along with me. Peace will come to all who ask for it with real desire and sincerity of purpose." -- A Course In Miracles |
