from Joni's book - Eastern Astrology for Western Minds Venus goes retrograde the least amount of time of any planet. Every 18 months it will be retrograde for 42 days but will stay in the same sign for four months. When Venus retrogrades, reflect back to the last retrograde and see if your values have changed over the intervening 18 months. Venus will retrograde eight signs away from its previous retrograde sign, indicating the need to change and transform our previous values. A pentagon is formed with five cycles of Venus retrograde. Venus Retrograde and Peace TreatiesA brief overview of some significant times of past Venus retrogrades and their relationship to war and peace can help validate this retrograde process. Of course there are always many more variables involved in prediction and I do realize more research is needed, but here is a start. Mars is a very important planet pertaining to War, and Mercury will play into the public’s perceptions of the times. But I have tried to isolate the retrograde cycles of Venus to drive home the points made concerning stationing degrees and the cyclic process involved. Venus is about values and can be very important in agreements concerning contracts, like marriage. If Venus represents peace, I suspect it will be important in agreements concerning peace. Here are some treaties and agreements that stand out in recent history and may help us understand this cyclic process of the planets manifesting in our world.World War IThe Peace Treaty of Versailles, June 28, 1919.The prior Venus retrograde began on January 23, 1918. The stationary retrograde was 5 degrees of Aquarius and the stationary direct was 20 degrees Capricorn. At the time of the treaty Saturn was 2 degrees Leo opposing the stationary retrograde degree of Venus of 5 degrees Aquarius. Soon after the treaty Venus went retrograde on Aug 25, 1919 in Virgo. World War IIYalta Peace Agreement, February 11, 1945.The previous Venus retrograde began on January 15, 1942, the stationary retrograde was 28 degrees of Capricorn and the stationary direct was 12 degrees of Capricorn. At the time of the Peace agreement the Sun was 27 degrees of Capricorn and Mercury was 14 degrees of Capricorn. On March 27, 1945 Venus went retrograde again, stationary retrograde at 10 degrees of Aries and stationary direct at 24 degrees of Pisces. This retrograde cycle was about two weeks after the peace agreement. The war was over on September 2, 1945 when the Japanese signed surrender terms on the battleship Missouri. Saturn was 28 degrees of Gemini aspecting the 24 degree point of the last stationary direct of Venus. Vietnam WarMay 28, 1972.President Nixon made a trip to the Soviet Union and signed an arms control agreement, which involved, controlling the future deployment of nuclear missiles. Venus went stationary retrograde on May 27, 1972 at 11 degrees of Gemini and turned stationary direct at 24 degrees of Taurus on July 8, 1972. On January 23, 1973 the Paris Peace accords were signed ending the U.S. participation in the Vietnam War, however bombing continued until August 15, 1973. In January of 1973, Saturn was 21 degrees of Taurus conjuncting the previous Venus stationary direct degree. In August 1973 Saturn was 8 degrees of Gemini approaching the degree of the Venus stationary retrograde of 11 degrees of Gemini. (It seems that Saturn somehow offsets the agreements or plans set for peace. I think Saturn is the force that solidifies the actions.) Personal Charts: MarriageIn personal charts I feel that marriage is in part an agreement or contract. After referencing back to many charts at the time of a marriage I find that Venus had stationed and retrograded over the seventh or first house just prior to the marriage date. |

"I can elect to change all thoughts that hurt. Only my condemnation injures me. Only my own forgiveness sets me free. How deceived I was to think that what I feared was in the world, instead of in my own mind. Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict. As forgiveness allows love to return to my awareness, I will see a world of peace and safety and joy. This world will change through you. No other means can save it. My forgiveness is the means by which the world is healed, together with myself, let me then forgive the world, that it may be healed along with me. Peace will come to all who ask for it with real desire and sincerity of purpose." -- A Course In Miracles |
