We have been taught that God or the Divine Spirit is outside of ourselves, when, in fact, that essence is within ourselves. We will never find any answers without, only within. When you meditate, bring your focus to your heart center and be one with it. Resist the tendency to bring your attention outside. Breathe into this center and imagine it opening like a beautiful flower.
